We’re delighted to wake up this morning (even though we’re a little hungover) as winners of the dba’s Inclusive Design Challenge!
Back in October, we got given our brief: how would we use design to keep the UK’s ageing population active and included?
We got stuck in, got talking with user groups, talked to care home residents and their carers, inched our way towards a big idea to tackle the problem – then sprinted for the finish.
5 months on, and there’s a fine little film about our idea to show you, a little ad on youtube too, some splendid audio out-takes (coming online soon) featuring the voice talents of everyone from Christopher Walken to Ren and Stimpy (or is it??).
And now there’s also a mighty fine scuplted-glass-shell-award thingy brightening up our receptionist’s morning.
Well done Tim, Kat, Jenny and everyone else here on the good ship Clinic. You can watch the film and find out all about our idea here: www.sageandonions.com

80,000+ football fans were the first to see our latest piece of work for The FA at the England v Egypt friendly game this week.

For the last 6 months or so we’ve been heads-down dreaming up a creative for The FA’s Respect programme. If you’re not football crazy (what it must be like?!) or familiar with the programme, its aim is to cut down physical assaults on referees by players in the adult grassroots game, and verbal abuse of kids by parents in the kids’ league game.
We came up with one simple, impactful execution aimed at each of our audiences; our strategy was to find a way of holding a mirror up to the players on the pitch & the parents on the sidelines who make the game un-enjoyable for the rest of us, and to use the embarrassment of both peer pressure & plain old self-consciousness to make our offenders realise the impact of their bad behaviour.
We’ve made two films for tv & online broadcast to support the programme. Check them both out here: www.TheFA.com/respect
We’ve also come up with matchday programme ads, changing room posters (for grassroots league clubs), rich media, and a digital distribution/seeding plan to get The FA’s message in front of as many offending players & parents as possible.
Our films went live at this week’s England v Egypt friendly in front of 80,000+ people, and will be in rotation online, on Sky, and in a Goals/Powerleague changing room near you. We love football, and we hate the abusive crap that gets in the way of ours & everyone else’s enjoyment of the beautiful game. Have a watch and pass them along to an offender near you.

I’ve liked pop music ever since I can remember. OK, when I was small it was Tommy Steele’s Little White Bull and Danny Kaye’s Inch Worm but even then I was a sucker for a good tune. I’ve always bought stuff, once upon a time converting my hard earned paper round money and Tesco shelf stacking pay packet into Beatles albums and Dionne Warwick singles and now, almost fifty years later I’m still searching for the next song that’ll change my life.
I hardly ever listen to the radio. Most music mags seem to have trundled off into a world of trend setting ‘next big things’ and skinny jeaned wannabes and good luck to em. TV? A couple of ten minute teasers late on Channel 4 and the odd special from BBC4 and that’s it. The Brits? The musical equivalent of a supermarket ready meal. It has its place but it’s not really music, is it? My world is populated by LastFM, Myspace, band websites, personal recommendations, and cover mounted CDs. This week I’ve discovered Freelance Whales, Skybox, The Rescues, Darwin Deez, The Generationals, Dark Mean, A Fine Frenzy, Seabird and rediscovered Matt Pond PA and the Watson Twins and it’s only Thursday
The business of music is healthy, there’s good stuff and it’s out there in mind boggling abundance and if only there was a way to let more people hear more of it the music business would be healthy too!

There are now 6.66GB of free space on our server.
This is not good. It means bad times are ahead,
an omen of a full server with no room for anyone
to work on…
I’m sure that for those of you over 30 years of age
I need not point out the significance of these numbers.
But for the benefit of those who don’t watch films from
the 1970s/80s because you don’t think the special effects
are good enough…
666 is the number of Sam Neil, the Australian
Antichrist who tried to take control of the world in 1981.
Here is wisdom. He that hath understanding,
let him count the number of the beast;
for it is the number of a man
and his number is Six hundred and sixty and six.

Chris Deal also used to work here and moved to Australia, but he was Australian so he knew what he was doing.
Anyhow, he claims this is the best website ever in the history of the web ever. Who are we to argue? In fact, we agree.
Enjoy
