The BRITS – A national embarrassment

Is that really the best we can do?

Where was the music? Where was the talent?

There have been shambolic Brit award shows before, but never one so lacking in talent. Obviously, celebrity and column inches is now the currency of awards not ability or creativity. If it hadn’t been for Peter Kay and, to be fair, Lady Gaga (who at least knows how to be a pop star) it would have been completely unwatchable.

Excuse me, we may be getting older, but giving singing awards to people who shout into a microphone? Giving a life time achievement award to someone of 36 and someone who, let’s face it, hasn’t actually achieved anything other than massive wealth for doing virtually cock all (apart from attending various clinics) for about 10 years since their last ‘big’ record. Florence and the Machine? WTF! Kasabian? Come on! – a poor man’s Oasis. So called ‘Talent’ show judges miming and dancing and trying to act the part of pop stars…. It’s all over surely.

Who votes for this nonsense? Does the public get what the public wants?

One of Britain’s greatest ever bands and exports - The Who - played the half time gig at this years Superbowl. We look forward to seeing JLS at the Superbowl 25 years from now.
